Lejeune High School (pronounced 'Le'Jurn), founded in 1944, is a high school located on the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune near Jacksonville, North Carolina. The school is operated by the Department of Defense Education Activity of the United States Department of Defense. It is one of six schools in the Camp Lejeune Dependent Schools (CLDS), which include four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Lejeune High School is the only high school located at Camp Lejeune. Its enrollment averages approximately 450 students, varying from Red Day to Gold Day. (Marines are known as devil dogs).Fact|date=March 2008 The school excels in basketball, and fields average scholastic wrestling and soccer teams. The 2008-2009 soccer team is set to dominate the Coastal Plains conference with the guidance of the knowledgeable Coach Rivera. The school is led by a civilian principal. The current principal, since 2007, is Wyyonia Shaveis. The school has come under recent criticism due to its lack of funding and poor management.Fact|date=March 2008
