Sayner is an unincorporated community in the town of Plum Lake in
Vilas County, Wisconsin . The community is the birthplace of thesnowmobile , citing a "motor toboggan" built byCarl Eliason in 1924. Sayner is commonly visited by snowmobilers from neighboring Eagle River and St Germain in the winter months, the Sayner Barnstormers handle the trails.Sayner is also home to one of the nation's oldest summer camps,
Camp Highlands for Boys, founded in 1904. The camp is located on the northeast end of Plum Lake.Sayner is located at the intersection of Highway 155 and County N. It is about 15 miles northwest of Eagle River.
