Burger Geldenhuys, born Schalk Burger on
18 May 1956 inKroonstad , in theFree State Province ,South Africa is aSouth African rugby union player. He is the most capped player in the history of the Blue Bulls.Career
Throughout his career he played for only province, Northern Transvaal (now called the Blue Bulls). He is 1.88m tall and weighs at 93 kg.
In total, he played in seven tests and scored one try. His first test was on
29 August 1981 ; he played the flanker position againstAll Blacks atAthletic Park ,Wellington . His seventh and final test occurred on2 September 1989 against a World Invitation side at Ellispark, inJohannesburg .Geldenhuys is often remembered for punching the NZ Cavaliers captain, Andy Dalton, from behind after a line-out in the game between the New Zeeland Cavaliers and Northern Transvaal. The incident resulted in a broken jaw for Dalton. As punishment, Geldenhuys was not selected for any of the four tests played against New Zealand, although this was denied by the then selectors.Fact|date=February 2007
