Pekka Puska (born
18 December 1945 inVaasa ) is a Finnish doctor, expert on public health and politician. He has been the head of theNational Public Health Institute of Finland since 2003 and before that he was the temporary head of the institute between Oct 1, 2000 and Feb 28, 2001. He has had great influence over Finnish medical science for a long time. He has also worked as a medical expert for theWorld Health Organization (WHO) since 1994, and in 2006 he was the Finnish candidate for the director-general post of theWorld Health Organization .External links
