Amroha ,India , he migrated as a child to Montgomery (nowSahiwal ) inPunjab, Pakistan . Here he studied at Islamia High School, Government High School & finally graduated fromGovernment College, Montgomery in 1959. He moved to theUniversity Oriental College Lahore for higher studies and did his MA inArabic in 1961, winning a gold medal. Later , he got hisPh.D. in Arabic from theUniversity of the Punjab in 1981. He started his teaching career as Lecturer in Arabic atGovernment College Bahawalpur from where he moved toGovernment College Sargodha and continued there up to 1984 when he became the principal ofGovernment Ambala Muslim Collage Sargodha . In 1985 he proceeded on deputation to theIslamic Research Institute ,International Islamic University ,Islamabad where he served as Chief Bureau of Translation for six years. In 1991 he became Head of the Department of Arabic atGovernment College Lahore (now a university), retiring in 1995. He still continues there as a visiting professor.
