- Southern Rock Allstars
The Southern Rock Allstars are a band that got its name from the history/lineage of its former members, but the original members who gave it the allure and true meaning of a
Southern rock supergroup have moved on or died. Its current lineup consists of a former bassist forThe Rossington Band , which was a 1-album act formed by Gary Rossington ofLynyrd Skynyrd and his wife, which is a footnote in the annals of Southern Rock, and the remainder were essentially one-time sidemen and, believe it or not, even "roadies" for some prominent Southern Rock acts.History
Based in
Muscle Shoals, Alabama the group at one time featuredJakson Spires , formerly the original drummer withBlackfoot , andDave Hlubek , former guitarist & chief songwriter forSouthern rock legendary groupMolly Hatchet . Spires died at 53 of a brain aneurysm in Florida in 2005 and Hlubek the same year rejoined Molly Hatchet as the only original member of that group, leaving its current lineup devoid of any members that would be considered a bonafide, notable "all-star".Dave Hlubek was replaced byDuane Roland formerly ofMolly Hatchett in 2003.Jimmy Farrar also formerly ofMolly Hatchet joined in 2002. Jimmy still plays with the band.Jay Johnson formerly the guitarist and a vocalist for theRossington Band andBlackfoot was also in the band from 1999 to 2005 and continues to join them on stage on selected dates.External links
