Isolation is the fifth studio album by Toto, released in November 1984. This was one of two albums they made with Fergie Fredriksen as a vocalist, the other being the soundtrack to Dune (soundtrack). Frederiksen, singing lead on seven of the ten tracks, replaced original Toto vocalist Bobby Kimball while the band was in the recording process for the album. Kimball cut a few of the album's original demos before being fired by the band, and some of his background vocals can be heard on the record, such as in their single "Stranger in Town." Isolation failed to achieve the vast popularity of its predecessor, Toto IV, and only went gold. Over the years, most of the songs from this album have been largely ignored at live performances.
