Shaun Lowther

Shaun Lowther

Shaun Lowther (born January 24, 1962) is a former Canadian national soccer team member and North American Soccer League player. He is currently an executive of a youth soccer club in Calgary.

Biography

Born in Newcastle, England he moved to Canada as a child, Lowther played eleven seasons with the Vancouver Whitecaps - 1980 through 1991, the last year of the NASL. He then played for the Vancouver 86ers of the Canadian Soccer League and was a member of the 1988/89 team that went 42 game losing streak. He was also a great young quarter-back for the Winnipeg Jr. Stampeders and actually got a scholarship for football not soccer.

A defender, Lowther played 2 times for Canada between 1983 and '85. He was also a member of the 1984 Summer Olympics Canadian team that reached the quarter-finals.

Lowther was General Manager of the Okanagan Predators of the Pacific Coast Soccer League in 2001 and 2002 (perhaps longer?). He is currently an executive with FC Calgary.

Shaun Lowther is currently the Head Coach of the Abbotsford Soccer Association and Head Coach of the PDL League's Abbotsford Mariners.
