The "Green Bay Gazette" was founded in 1866 and became a daily newspaper in 1871. It merged with its major competitor, the "Green Bay Free Press" in 1915. The newspaper was purchased byGannett in 1980. In 1972 an industrial dispute led to the setting up of the rivalGreen Bay News-Chronicle , which in 2004 was taken over by Press Gazette publishers Gannett who closed it in 2005. This left the Press Gazette with an effective monopoly in its circulation area. Its circulation is 57,675 for its daily morning paper, and 83,166 for its Sunday edition. The paper concentrates on local news and has very limited national and international coverage (usually a single page or less). Many pages are devoted to sport each day and every fall, the Press-Gazette has pervasive coverage of theGreen Bay Packers , the localNFL franchise. Business pages are usually limited to local boosterism. Supplements driven by advertising content are published several times a week. [Green Bay Press Gazette daily editions]References
