Sam Malin (born 29 September 1963) is a Canadian businessman based in
Madagascar . Malin foundedMadagascar Oil in 2004 with Robert Nelson, Alan Bond and Michael Smith. Malin is the originator of the company's projects: the development of giant onshore heavy oil fields (Bemolanga andTsimiroro ) and exploration for onshore conventional oil and gas in Madagascar with which he was first involved in 1994. He is also the founder ofRed Island Minerals , which is developing onshorecoal atSakoa in Madagascar.After graduating in Applied
Geophysics fromQueen’s University , Canada, Malin joinedDome Petroleum as ageophysicist . He later undertook post graduate studies atCambridge University in England before joining the Energy Group of international consultantsArthur D. Little in London. Since then, Malin has worked forStandard & Poor's DRI and has carried out a variety of advisory and analytical roles under a number ofEU energy sector programmes.ources
