History

Animal Planet was licensed by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in November 2000 [ [http://www.crtc.gc.ca/archive/ENG/Decisions/2000/DB2000-552.htm Decision CRTC 2000-552 Decision CRTC 2000-552] ; CRTC; 2000-12-14] and launched on September 7, 2001 as a localized Canadian version of the American channel Animal Planet. On June 30, 2008 Animal Planet updated its on-air appearance to match the American version.
