The robust cardinalfish, "Epigonus robustus", is a deepwater cardinalfish of the family Epigonidae, found circumglobally in southern temperate waters, at depths of between 500 and 3,000 m. Its length is up to 22 cm.

The robust cardinalfish is very similar to the big-eyed cardinalfish but with a longer first spine on the second dorsal fin.
