San Damiano d'Asti is a "comune" (municipality) in the Province of Asti in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 40 km southeast of Turin and about 13 km southwest of Asti. The municipality of San Damiano d'Asti contains the "frazioni" (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Lavezzole, San Luigi, San Grato, San Giulio, San Pietro, Gorzano, Verneglio, Valmolina, Vascagliana, and Torrazzo.

San Damiano d'Asti borders the following municipalities: Antignano, Asti, Canale, Cantarana, Celle Enomondo, Cisterna d'Asti, Ferrere, Govone, Priocca, San Martino Alfieri, and Tigliole.

History

The area of the municipality was once time occupied by Astixio "comune" and its suburbs like Gorzano,Lavezzole and Marcelengo.In 1275,after the lost war against Asti,Astixio was destroyed.Instead of it,astigiani built a "villanova".
