Opened in September 1977 by May Centers, Inc. with
Meier & Frank ,Nordstrom and Sears. During phase two of mall expansion, aJCPenney was added;Lipmans was also proposed but never built. Eventually,Mervyns would open where the Lipmans had been planned.The mall was acquired in 1994 by Westfield America, Inc., a precursor of
The Westfield Group . In 1998 it was renamed "Westfield Shopppingtown Vancouver". The "Shoppingtown"" name was dropped in June 2005. The Meier & Frank store was renamed Macy's in September 2006 and expanded their location in 2006 as well.The 82,225 ft² Mervyn's closed in January 2007. Plans have been proposed by Westfield to significantly renovate the center, but no definite announcement has been made.
