Watercut meter

Watercut meter

A water cut meter measures the water content (cut) of a specific product as it flow through a pipeline. The meter measures the differential flow characteristics of water and other components of the liquid to determine the percentage of water.

Water cut meters are typically used in the mineral oil industry to measure the watercut of oil flowing from a well, produced oil from a separator, crude oil transfer in pipelines and in loading tankers. There are several technologies used. The main technologies are capacitive measurements, mircrowave dielectric measurements and NIR measurements. Different vendors use different technologies.
