Peqin

Peqin (Albanian: Peqin, Peqini), (Turkish: Bekleyin) is the capital of the Peqin District in southern Albania at 41.06°N 19.76°E. The town has a population of 10000.The ancient name of Peqin was Klaudiana. The todays name derives from Ottoman form "Bekleyin", which means place of Hospitality. Still today there exist the Ottoman Castle and some original parts of the mosque of Abdurrahman Pasha, which was the governor of Eflak [Vlachia] and Boğdan [Moldavia] . Its football team is KS Shkumbini, which play in Albanian superleague. KS Shkumbini is famous for its Crazy Supporters called The Skyblue-White Lions.
