Seven Keys (game show)

Seven Keys (game show)

Seven Keys was a United States television game show that aired from 1960-1965 on KTLA and ABC-TV.

Rules

One contestant would attempt to advance along a 70-square board by identifying the pictures on one of those 70 squares. The winner of the game earned one of those "Seven Keys", one of which was the one that the contestant was playing for. The keys corresponded to seven prizes, one key of which opened the lock to a grand prize. The contestant could stop with the keys won at any time but would lose all the earned keys if he/she failed to clear the board during the game. The host of the show was Jack Narz.

History

Seven Keys originally aired locally in Los Angeles on KTLA Channel 5 (now an affiliate of The CW) from September 12, 1960 to April 28, 1961; It is one of the few television game shows that aired daily in Primetime.

ABC, noting the popularity of the local series, picked it up from April 3, 1961 to March 27, 1964 and kept Narz as the host.

After this run ended the show continued on KTLA from April 6, 1964 to January 15, 1965 with Jack still as the host.

Episode Status

Only two episodes of this four-year run are known to exist - the sixth episode of the original KTLA run (September 19, 1960) and an ABC episode from July 12, 1962 (taped July 9 with slate).
