Timur Ibragimov (born January 15 1975 in Tashkent, Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic, USSR) is an Uzbekistani heavyweight professional boxer based in Florida, USA.

Personal

Timur is the cousin of a fellow heavyweight boxer Sultan Ibragimov, of Avar descent, although Sultan fights for (Russia) and Timur represents Uzbekistan. Amateur career

Ibragimov had over 200 amateur fights, and was a member of the 1996 Uzbek Olympic team as a light heavyweight (178 lbs).

Ibragimov captured 5 national titles in Uzbekistan and in 1991 was the Soviet Union junior champion, winning the championship just months before the Soviet Union collapsed. He also won an Asian Boxing Championship.

Professional career

Ibragimov turned pro in 2000 as a heavyweight and began his career on a winning streak, starting with 21-0-1 (the draw being against Kevin Johnson), largely against limited opposition.

In 2006 Ibragimov was outpointed by then-undefeated American Calvin Brock who was clearly the better conditioned athlete and superior boxer that night, and had Ibragimov in trouble several times en-route to Ibragimov's first loss. The heat in Las Vegas may not have served a good excuse for a slow fight, missing action, as Timur had been brought up in Termez, the hottest spot in the former Soviet Union.

On February 16, 2007 Ibragimov lost a unanimous decision to once-beaten fringe contender Tony Thompson but came back to beat German Timo Hoffmann (record 36-4-1).
