Laufen (French: "Laufon") is a municipality and the capital of the district of Laufen in the canton of Basel-Country in Switzerland.

Laufen is a principal train station for the surrounding area, connecting it to Basel. The Neolithic cist gravesite situated within the municipality is listed as a heritage site of national significance. [Swiss inventory of cultural property of national and regional significance (1995), p. 69.]
