"Indiana Jones" (working title) is a video game currently under development by LucasArts for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game will be the third in the series of original 3D "Indiana Jones" games, preceded by "Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb", and "Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine".

Development

During E3 2006, LucasArts heavily promoted the game by citing its use of the new simulation technology developed by NaturalMotion called euphoria, which generates "on-the-fly" animations for 3D characters thus eliminating the need for canned animations and preventing repetition of animations. At the time that game was scheduled for a release sometime in 2007, but this did not occur. Later, when "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" was finally green lit and entered production, many assumed that LucasArts would be timing the release of the game with the new film in the summer of 2008 (such is case with ""), but this did not happen either.

Despite being announced in 2005, the game does not have a set release date, but it is expected to come out some time in vgy|2009, due to delays in the development caused by LucasArts prioritizing "", which uses the same technology that was originally associated with the Indiana Jones game during 2006.

It is not yet known whether Harrison Ford will provide the voice of Indiana Jones. [Cite news | title = Ford may reprise 'Indiana Jones' character in voice only | publisher = spielbergfilms.com | date = 2004-11-11 | url = http://www.spielbergfilms.com/indy4/583 | accessdate = 2007-11-05]

A recent interview with LucasArts by DailyGame revealed that, "Apparently, the Indiana Jones PS3 and Xbox 360 game is "very deep into development," with a team "working very actively" to bring the game up to a form for public/media consumption. And, because the game shares an engine with "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed", which ships this fall, such a display may not be as far off as you might think. The progress the development team is making has apparently been paying off in strides, as one LucasArts representative told us that "the game looks great." Fact|date=October 2008

Another possibility is the PSP and DS Versions could be released by October in conjunction with the DVD release with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, with the company A2M working on that. PEGI put the rating of the PSP and DS version on there website on August 25th but removed the PSP version. So it's likely the very different DS version will be released in October

Overview

The plot, revealed in Indiana Jones:The Ultimate Guide [ [http://www.amazon.com/dp/0756635004 Amazon.com: Indiana Jones: The Ultimate Guide] The reference in question is in the "Video Games" pages of the book. Retrieved on 2008-06-11.] , centers around Indy's search for a former college professor of his, Charles Kingston. Otherwise, not much is known other than the fact that it is set in 1939 (18 years before the events in "Kingdom", and 1 year after "Crusade") and features a sequence set in San Francisco, involving a brawl outside a fireworks factory, and a fight atop a runaway cable car.

A trailer released at E3 2006 showcased the games' use of the euphoria animation engine, created by NaturalMotion. Further explanation comes from David Collins, sound designer and voice director of the project as seen [http://youtube.com/watch?v=Gy0KHdfLVfI here] . He explains that by using euphoria no two reactions will ever be alike, objects will have their own unique textures, and enemies will be thinking on their own.

On the internet, concept art for an elephant chase can also be located [http://www.theindyexperience.com/video_games/next_gen_indy_game_gallery.php here] . GameTrailers also hosts a publicity trailer for the game, featuring concept art of a train station and a "African Queen"-style river boat. It has also been revealed that Indy will recover many "ancient artifacts from around the globe", and the artifact central to the game's plot will become a major part of the gameplay after being recovered, also the locations will include San Francisco's Chinatown and "the most sacred ground in the world." His name being featured in the tech demo videos for the game have led some to speculate that Lao Che may be a villain, though it could also be a throwaway joke.
