Aschwin Wildeboer (born
February 14 ,1986 inSabadell ,Catalonia ,Spain ) is abackstroke swimmer of Dutch origin. His parents, both born and raised in Holland, moved toSpain in1978 , and settled in Sabadell, where his fatherPaulus Wildeboer became the head coach of the local swimming club, called "Club Natació Sabadell".There he and his older brother Olaf, a freestyle
swimmer , were raised. They both represented Spain at the 2004 Summer Olympics, where the younger of the two swimming brothers was eliminated in the qualifying heats of the Men's 100m and 200m Backstroke. His brother decided to swim for Holland in the spring of2006 , and represented his second country for the first time at theEuropean LC Championships 2006 inBudapest, Hungary . There Aschwin was a member of the Spanish squad.Aschwin swam again for Spain in the 2008 Summer Olympics, achieving a new Spanish record in the 100 m backstroke (53.51) and finishing 7th in the final.
