- Xeon (emulator)
Xeon was an
Xbox emulator released for theMicrosoft Windows operating system onApril 25 ,2003 . The emulator is currently only capable of running (NTSC distribution) with varied success from total inoperability to an Xbox-comparable success.Xeon experiences the most success while running on
GeForce FX video cards. Although the sole developer of Xeon, "SF", has released an update to assist ATI Radeongraphics card compatibility many users are required to usesoftware rendering to subvert the lack of aDirectX 9.0 video card. Much controversy over the legitimacy of Xeon previously existed due to the non-presence of the developer, limited user base, and lack ofsource code . Despite announcements of future development by "SF", two pixel Shader source files were released as proof that the Xeon emulator was in fact unique.ource Files
Released on
August 10 ,2003 by "SF" were twoC++ source files containing thepixel shader instructions for Xeon. The release was prompted by accusations that Xeon simply contained enough source code from an existing Xbox emulatorCxbx to give the appearance of a working emulator. Requiring only attribution, these source files did indeed authenticate Xeon as a working Xbox emulator.*XBD3DPixelShader.h - Xeon pixel shader header source code.
