- Schechter-Teale Band
The Schecter-Teale Band were a British, mid 1990s blue-rock band fronted by
Carl Schechter (Vocals, bass) andG.J. Teale (Backing vocals, lead guitar).Initially their music was fairly straight blue rock, driven by Schecter's driven, explorative bass style which was reminiscent of
Jack Bruce andAndy Fraser . In later years the teenageG.J. Teale 's songwriting and muscianship came more to the fore. The band folded in Teale's broad rangeing influences from such diverse artists as Nirvana,Uncle Tupelo ,Michelle Shocked andFrank Zappa .While the Schecter-Teale band built a loyal following they never broke into the main stream and eventually they drifted apart as all of the members were offered session work. In April 1996 the band's rhythm guitarist, Michael Reid fell from the roof of an apartment block in Los Angeles and was killed effectively ending any further development.
Carl Schechter now runs a small recording studio near Montreal, Canada.G.J. Teale works in software development in the UK.
