Link TV is a non-commercial American satellite television network claiming to provide "diverse perspectives on world and national issues." It claims to reach one out of four American homes because it is carried by DirecTV and Dish Network. Link TV broadcasts a mix of documentaries, global and national news, with programs taking a leftist editorial position. It also broadcasts music of diverse cultures, and participatory programs promoting citizen action. Most of Link TV’s programs have never been broadcast on American television. Select Link TV programs are streamed on the Internet. The network airs translated "news" programs from the Middle East, with a strong anti-Israel bias. It also airs English language news from Deutsche Welle, as well as various documentaries and world music videos. [ Wilner, Paul. Link TV's stated "mission" is to:
*Engage viewers with in-depth programs on issues of global importance.
*Provide diverse perspectives on world issues and cultures.
*Give voice to communities underrepresented in conventional media.
*Encourage action.
*Promote cross-cultural dialogue.
*Maintain independence.

Like Pacifica Radio, Link TV presents itself as a "free speech" alternative to mainstream media and yet allows only that programming which supports a left-wing point of view.

Link TV is operated by Link Media, Inc., a nonprofit organization headed by Kim Spencer. Link TV was launched as a daily, 24-hour non-commercial network in 1999. It receives no money from satellite providers, but relies instead on contributions from viewers and foundations.
