John F. Kennedy High School is a secondary school located in Granada Hills, Los Angeles California. The school mascot is the golden cougar, and the school colors are brown and gold. It is located in District 1 of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The current principal is Christine Clark. There are currently 3064 students attending the school.

The school's classes are on a traditional calendar schedule. They include various advanced placement (college level) classes, foreign language and ESL classes, as well career-oriented classes such as journalism and military science. These are offered along with standards-based classes such as English, history, mathematics, etc.

The school will be relieved when Valley Region High School 4 opens in 2010 [http://www.laschools.org/project-status/one-project?project_number=56.40031] and Valley Region High School 5 opens in 2011 [http://www.laschools.org/project-status/one-project?project_number=56.40032] .

Architecture and Digital Arts Magnet

The primary theme of the Architecture and Digital Arts Magnet are the layouts, infrastructures, and designs of a modern city and life in one. Classes included in the curriculum involve various architectural and structural-related fields as well as imaging, photography, and modern film production. Architecture, digital imaging, filmmaking, and photography are the four career selections offered in the magnet.

Athletics

The Baseball varsity team is currently coached by Manuel Alvarado who in his first year on the job, led Kennedy to its third City championship, defeating Palisades 4-3.Kennedy has become a powerhouse in the San Fernando Valley winning its 7th city championship in 2006 defeating Chatsworth at Dodger Stadium. It is tied with Fremont High School for most L.A. City baseball championships. Kennedy won its titles in 1981,1985,1989,1995,1996,2000 and 2006 [ [http://www.lacity.org/council/cd12/legweekinreview/cd12legweekinreview242338755_06262006.pdf Greig Smith newsletter congratulating the team] ] . However, Fremont won two of its championships back when the champion was decided in a preseason tournament (1939 and 1942). Postseason tournaments to decide the champion of Los Angeles did not begin until 1943.
