World Forum of Fish Harvesters and Fish Workers - Foro Mundial de Pescadores y Trabajadores de la Pesca - is an international organisation for coastal fishers. The headquarters of the organisation lie in Ottawa in Canada. The forum tries to co-ordinate diffing interests from 38 separate countries on all continents.
The forum is the result of a meeting in Québec City in 1995 between national organisations for coastal fishing and the fishing industry. The first general meeting of the forum took place in New Delhi in 1997, and a new general assembly was held in Lisbon in 2004.
The organisation's aim is to work for sustainable fishing, and to put forward the interests of those who fish the coast. A continuing aim is to work with the WTO in favour of small fisheries.
