- Anirvan Ghosh
Anirvan Ghosh is a
neuroscientist and Stephen Kufflerprofessor at theUniversity of California, San Diego . Hisresearch has contributed to our understanding of the molecular mechanisms that regulate development of themammalian brain . A major focus of his research has been to identifygenes that mediate the effects of sensory experience on brain development.Anirvan Ghosh was born in Bloomington,
Indiana but grew up inKanpur ,India . He received aB.S. inPhysics fromCaltech and aPh.D. inNeurobiology fromStanford University . His postdoctoral training was withMichael E. Greenberg atHarvard Medical School . From 1995 to 2003 he was on the faculty at theJohns Hopkins School of Medicine , before joiningUCSD as theStephen Kuffler Professor .Anirvan's nickname at Caltech was "Underdog".
