- Earl of Linlithgow
The title Earl of Linlithgow was created in the
Peerage of Scotland in1600 for Alexander Livingston, 7th Lord Livingston, along with the subsidiary title Lord Livingston and Callendar. In1695 the Earldom merged with the junior Earldom of Callendar, created in1641 for a younger son of the 1st Earl. The 5th Earl of Linlithgow (and 4th Earl of Callendar) was attainted in1716 for his participation in the Fifteen and all his peerages were forfeit. The seat of the Earls of Linlithgow wasCallendar House inFalkirk , now a museum.See also
