Saint Laserian

Saint Laserian

Saint Laserian (also known as Molaise) was a 7th century missionry who worked in both Ireland and Scotland.

He later entered the monastery at Leighlin in Ireland where he became abbot and possibly bishop. His monastery thrived and gave its name to the diocese established in 1110. He adapted Church discipline in accordance with the practices of Rome and introduced the Roman method of dating the celebration of Easter. He died in 639. Laserian's feast day is May 8.
