Unaware of what was going on, everyone was escorted onto the front lawns. At aproximately 10:45 AM, Principal Michael Cady made an announcement and dismissed everyone home. Busses were provided for transportation, but many upperclassmen had left their car keys inside the building. No one was allowed inside of the building again until 3:00 PM that same afternoon. When classes ended ten minutes later, at 2:20 PM, students took their regularly scheduled busses home.
