He is a distinguished graduate of theUnited States Air Force Academy ,Colorado Springs ,Colorado , earning abachelor's degree in engineering science in 1965. He received a master of science degree in astronautics fromPurdue University ,Indiana , in 1966.He is the recipient of several awards and honors including recognition as a distinguished graduate of USAF Pilot Training and a top graduate of the
USAF Test Pilot School .
