Valencia CF (1992-93, 1999-04) andCelta de Vigo (1994-99, 2004-06), before retiring at age 34 with two national championships (2002, 04) to his credit, although he played sparingly in the latter (10 matches, no complete ones). Sánchez's best output came during 1998-99, when he netted 13 goals for Celta's final fifth place.In 2001, Sánchez scored two goals in the 2001 Champions League semifinal second leg against
Leeds United (3-0 home win), although the first was achieved with hishand . He was replaced in the final loss againstBayern Munich .Sánchez appeared once for Spain, playing 12 minutes in a 2-2 friendly match against Italy, on
