It is the home ground for the hard hittingHeartland Championship team North Otago. It has hosted NPC finals and semi-finals most of which in the last five years. One of the most memerable finals held at Centeninial park was in 2002, when North Otago contineud their best season winning 43-19. The last final held at Centennial Park was the 2007Heartland Championship Meads Cup against Wanganui, North Otago winning. Centennial Park is also one of the home grounds forSuper 14 franchise Highlanders, although most of the matches are only pre-season matches.
