"Baby, It's Cold Outside" is the thirteenth serial in the United States children's television series "My Little Pony".

ynopsis

The Ponies are delighted as snow falls in summer, not realising that it's a plot by the Penguin King to freeze Ponyland and destroy those that can't survive the cold.

Plot

Part 1

Truly and the baby ponies are delighted when they wake to find Dream Valley covered in snow. They set about building a snowpony, undeterred by Galaxy's warnings that it shouldn't be snowing in summer.

Meanwhile, Edgar the penguin and his duck friend Sonny go to ask Edgar's father, King Charlatan, about the unseasonal snow. They are shocked to discover that he's made it himself, using his icy stare, and a machine that amplifies his power enough to cover the whole of Ponyland. Sonny protests that his family shouldn't have to endure the cold, and Charlatan responds by freezing him solid, to Edgar's distress.

The Little Ponies keep happily playing, until the Sea Ponies' river freezes over, quickly followed by the Rainbow itself. Finally realising the implications, the pegasus ponies try to fly over the Rainbow to fetch Megan, but each succumbs to the icy winds. With Galaxy's reassurance, it's Surprise who finally makes it. When she and Megan return, they head North to find the source of the chill, accompanied by Galaxy, North Star and Sundance.

As she crosses the frozen river, Surprise notices two Sea Ponies, who guide the Little Ponies to Charlatan's kingdom from beneath the icy surface. The entrance to the kingdom is a labyrinth, and with Surprise and North Star are unable to fly, Galaxy tries to lead the group with her intuition. When this fails, Surprise starts choosing directions at random - and leads them straight into the path of an Abominable Snowman...

Part 2

The Abominable Snowman gives chase, hoisting an ice boulder above his head to throw at the Ponies. Galaxy winks out, and winks in on top of the boulder, her weight smashing it and burying the Snowman in chunks of ice.

The group continues their search for a way in, but Charlatan's guards find them first, and throw them in a prison cell made of ice. Also in the cell are the frozen Sonny, and Edgar, who's sneaked in to try and thaw him out. Edgar tells the guards to stand aside, claiming Megan and the Ponies as his Prisoners and ordering them to carry Sonny as he escorts them from the cell. He leads the group through secret tunnels, past an assortment of traps and into his father's throne room.

Charlatan is furious of the intrusion and aims his icy stare at the Ponies, but ends up freezing Edgar instead. Megan appeals to Charlatan's grief, and he comes to regret his actions - but insists the process isn't reversible. Galaxy supposes it can't hurt to try, and uses her magic on Charlatan's amplifier. Edgar and Sonny are instantly thawed, and soon the rest of Ponyland regains its summer warmth. The Little Ponies bid goodbye to a grateful father and son.

* As Edgar is frozen, his crown is knocked off of his head. Then it is back on his head. Then it is off. Then it is on, but frozen, too! Then his father places it on his head.
* The German translation is titled Die große Kälte - "The Big Freeze". The Dutch and French versions each literally translated the title 'Baby, it's Cold Outside'.
