Last album = "www.pitchshifter.com " (1998)
This album = "Deviant" (2000)
Next album = "PSI" (2002)"Deviant" is an
album by the Britishindustrial metal band Pitchshifter, released in 2000 (see2000 in music ). It was a follow up to the commercially successful album "www.pitchshifter.com ", but was seen by the record label as a disappointment. Promotional videos by DOSE Productions were made for the tracks "Hidden Agenda" and "Dead Battery". The track "Everything's Fucked" was released for radio play in an altered version "Everything Sucks". Jello Biafra makes an appearance on the track "As Seen on TV".Before Deviant was released a Promotional CD was given out called
Deviant Sampler that was as it says in the title was a sample of "Deviant".Deviant could be considered their softest album and has less of the eletronic programming that is common in pitchshifter's music but instead contains the most samples and guitar effects.
Looking at sound of Pitchshifter's music, their sound has changed with every release. Even though www.pitchshifter.com is the first release that showed the change it still carried some of the old sound. e.g. Microwaved, Genius and Disposable have some of the noisey sound parts common in older songs, but the Deviant sound is completely striped of the old noises and is seen as the softest album and most radio friendly.
