- Jane Lubchenco
Dr. Jane Lubchenco (1947-) is an American
environmental scientist and marine ecologist.The Wayne and Gladys Valley Professor of Marine Biology and
Oregon State University Distinguished Professor of Zoology, she is actively engaged in teaching, research, synthesis and communication of scientific knowledge. She grew up inColorado , received her PhD. and taught atHarvard University . Her research interests include biodiversity, climate change, sustainability science and the state of the oceans. She has received numerous awards including aMacArthur Fellowship , a Pew Fellowship, eight honorary degrees (including one fromPrinceton University ), the 2002 Heinz Award in the Environment and theNierenberg Prize for Science in the Public Interest from theScripps Institute of Oceanography , 2003. Between 1997-98 she served as president of theAmerican Association for the Advancement of Science .External links
