Jerry Wayne Mumphrey (born September 9, 1952) is a retired Major League Baseball outfielder who played for the St. Louis Cardinals (1974–79), San Diego Padres (1980), New York Yankees (1981–83), Houston Astros (1983–85) and Chicago Cubs (1986–88).
Mumphrey finished 20th in voting for the 1981 American League MVP.
Along with San Diego Padres' teammates Gene Richards and Ozzie Smith, he was part of the first trio from the same team in MLB history to each steal 50 or more bases in a season (1980).
In 15 seasons he played in 1,585 Games and had 4,993 At Bats, 660 Runs, 1,442 Hits, 217 Doubles, 55 Triples, 70 Home Runs, 575 RBI, 174 Stolen Bases, 478 Walks, .289 Batting Average, .349 On-base percentage, .396 Slugging Percentage, 1,979 Total Bases, 29 Sacrifice Hits, 41 Sacrifice Flies and 49 Intentional Walks.

When Mumphrey was acquired by the Cubs in December 1985, Chicago GM Dallas Green was elated.
