South Pasadena Middle School (SPMS) is a public middle school located in
South Pasadena ,California .The school is a part of the
South Pasadena Unified School District . The school colors are orange and white, which represent the school mascot, a tiger cub. There is a drill team called the Tigerettes. The school is mostly composed of whites and Asians.South Pasadena Middle School, like certain other middle schools, has block scheduling, but uses a new method. A Monday is an "all day", where students attend all 6 periods but do not attend homeroom. Tuesdays and Thursdays are "odd days", where students attend only odd-numbered periods. Wednesdays and Fridays are "even days", where students attend only even- numbered periods.
On some occasions, students attend up to Wednesday regularly, but Thursday becomes an all day. This happens when there is a holiday on Friday. When there is a holiday on Monday, students just continue the rest of the week normally.Occasionally, on Fridays, there is a spirit day. the scheduling is the same, but students come to school dressed according to the themes, which vary from wackytacky, to orange and white. Robert Yim is the assistant principal, and David Kubela is the principal, starting from the 2008- 2009 school year.
As of May 25, 2008, there are 55 staff members at SPMS.
There are three grade levels. 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.
