Kcor has played with bands such asBlack Oak Arkansas at a music festival inEl Dorado, AR ,Sonny Moorman at the 6 One Six Club andBig Ass Truck at the Pop Tunes Anniversary Party onBeale Street in the New Daisy Theatre in Memphis.History
Gerry Haner and Micka Porter met at a mutual friend’s party in El Dorado, AR. Haner and Porter spent most of the time talking about music and decided they should start playing music together. After a few jam sessions, Haner and Porter knew they wanted to start a band. With a friend they knew who had a drum set sitting around, they formed a band named Orion. Orion practiced cover tunes a lot but never hit it off very well musically. Eventually the drummer left and that was the end of Orion. By this time, Haner decided it was time to start writing original music. Haner and Porter worked hard for the next few months working on the new music, practicing day and night. One night, Porter brought his friend, Jared Walters to band practice. Walters was the break they had been waiting for. People from all over town would come to The Band Hall (a hang out for bands and their fans), and listen to the band practice. One person who came up there often was Jeff Harris. After joining in on a few of the practices, Harris became the Bass Guitarist. With the band complete, they could finally settle on a name, which is rock spelled backward.
On a trip to Memphis, Haner and Harris stopped by the legendary Sun Studios. While having lunch at the café after a tour of the studio, Haner and Harris gave Sun Studio’s manager a demo tape. About a week later the manager called and asked if the whole band would be interested in coming up and recording some songs.
Kcor recorded 14 songs. While the engineer was mixing the music, they were offered a contract. Shortly thereafter, Porter left the band and the remaining 3 headed back to the studio to re-record their songs to create their first C.D., "Listen To The Music". After 4 years of self-marketing the C.D. and gigs, Harris left the band. Wade Leverette and Keith Michaels sat in as Bass Guitarist from time to time until Michael Campbell came onboard as full time Bass Guitarist. Family pressures and the expense of self-promotion eventually proved too great and a year later, the band broke up.
