Kraft Foods Banbury

Kraft Foods in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England is a large food and coffee producing factory in the north of the town. It lays claim to be the world's largest soluble coffee producing facility, making over 11 billion cups of coffee a year [http://www.kraftfoods.co.uk/kraft/page?siteid=kraft-prd&locale=uken1&PagecRef=2297&Mid=2297] , enough to meet Britain's demand three times over. Kraft Foods Banbury employs some 1,100 people and 680 of those are in the production part of the site. It is the largest employer in Banbury.

It was built in 1964 and was partly due to the London overspill. Kraft Foods Banbury is the Kraft centre of manufacturing with the Kraft UK headquarters located at Cheltenham.

The factory is still sometimes known as General Foods after the American company which originally owned the building, before 'GF' as it is commonly known was taken over by Kraft.

During October 2006, a block of Kraft Foods that was being prepared for demolition caught on fire and remained on fire for most of the day.
