"I Might Be A Cunt, But I'm Not A Fucking Cunt" is a song by TISM, released as the second single from their album "www.tism.wanker.com" in 1998.

Due to lyrical content, the song was almost universally banned, as was the video for both the lyrical nature of the song and the sexual nature of the video. The title of the song references the 1996 film "From Dusk Till Dawn" when George Clooney's character says the line "I may be a bastard, but I'm not a fucking bastard."

On the literal level, the song focuses on a man who admits that he has faults, but when viewed in perspective, those faults are not entirely bad. For example having sex with "your sister" makes him bad, but he's not entirely bad because he refuses to have sex with "your mum". Eventually the man concedes that he might not be able to control all of his urges and makes the leap from "cunt" to "fucking cunt" by asking for "your mum's number." On a figurative level the song operates on numerous levels, carrying on the themes of the album. On one level, it is a paean to those in the lower class who are proud of who and what they are, as noted in the line "I might have gone to uni, but at least I know I'm dumb." On another level, it is a criticism of those same people, those who revel in their mediocrity.

Video

The video, directed by Craig Melville, parodied the Mimi Macpherson sex video and featured footage from a home video camera focused on a bed which a couple would have sex for the duration of the song in a variety of different positions, including the male entering the bed in cricket pads and a Jeff Kennett mask [http://ilx.wh3rd.net/thread.php?msgid=4623459] . Later, as the male adjusts the camera it is revealed a member of TISM is sitting next to the bed reading a book.

The video was played once on SBS Australia's 'Alchemy' show which its hosts at the time said would never play again, even though viewer demand was high for a repeat in the following weeks. The video is available uncensored on the initial pressings of the album "www.tism.wanker.com" (1998) and on the second DVD of "The White Albun" (2004)

Controversy

The single release of "I Might Be A Cunt, But I'm Not A Fucking Cunt" brought controversy back to TISM once again. The song was infrequently heard on Triple J radio, usually a station not too shy in favour of censorship and the video was rarely, if ever, shown on the usually liberal Rage. The height of the controversy came in the form of [http://www.geocities.com/tismselfstorage/ruxton.jpga letter] to Shock Records from Bruce Ruxton, then head of the Australian RSL in which he described it as "dropping [Australia's standards] into the proverbial sewer." The letter was published on TISM's website at the time.
