The Engstligen falls near
Adelboden in theBernese Oberland are the second highestwaterfalls inSwitzerland . They are listed in the Swiss "inventory of landscapes of national significance".The Engstligen falls have one of the highest water volumes of alpine water falls and are one of the sights of Adelboden.
The numerous mountain streams of
Engstligenalp join together near its northern exit and fall in two steps over the rocks 600 m into the Engstligen valley where they become the official beginning of the Engstlige river.The upper fall can be seen partially from the Engstligenalp cable railway, a full view is possible from the seam path leading up the rocks.
The lower fall is accessible by a comfortable mountain path from the lower station of the Engstligenalp cable railway.
In winter, the Engstligen falls are a paradise for ice climbers.
