Simon Raymonde (born Simon Philip Raymonde,
3 April 1962 , inTottenham ,London ) is an Englishmusician andrecord producer . He is the son of arranger andcomposer Ivor Raymonde .Career
In 1984, Raymonde joined became
bassist ofCocteau Twins , filling the void left by the departedWill Heggie . He remained in the band until its dissolution in 1997.
Raymonde's debut solo album, "Blame Someone Else", was released in 1997, and featured contributions from bothElizabeth Fraser andRobin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins.
Raymonde runs theBella Union record label , and has signed such previously unknown acts asThe Dears ,Laura Veirs , andExplosions in the Sky ,Fionn Regan ,Howling Bells ,Midlake , andStephanie Dosen . He has also acted as producer on many records, including Clearlake's "Cedars",James Yorkston 's "Moving Up Country",The Duke Spirit 's "Cuts Across The Land" and The Open's "Silent Hours". He also worked on theFionn Regan album "The End of History", which was nominated for the 2007Mercury Music Prize . His more recent output includes work withHowling Bells , Helene,Archie Bronson Outfit andStephanie Dosen , and in 2007 he made an appearance in thedocumentary film "".olo discography
