- Adjutant-General to the Forces
The Adjutant-General to the Forces, commonly just referred to as the Adjutant-General (AG), is one of the most senior officers in the
British Army . He is in charge of administration, personnel and organisational matters. The Adjutant-General usually holds the rank ofGeneral orLieutenant-General . Despite his administrative role, the Adjutant-General, like most officers above the rank ofMajor-General , is invariably drawn from one of the combat arms, not from the supportcorps .Headquarters Adjutant-General is at the former
RAF Upavon , now Trenchard Lines,Upavon ,Wiltshire , and will soon be amalgamated with HeadquartersLand Command . The two headquarters are to move, probably to the premises at Andover which theDefence Logistics Organisation will vacate, and amalgamate by 2008/2009. Headquarters Adjutant-General ceased to exist on 1 April 2008, and it is now known as HQ LF (Headquarters Land Forces)Holders of the post since World War II
