Savigny lies 793m above sea-level, 8 km east from
Lausanne the capital of its canton. The thinly distributed community stretches across the Swiss landscape and ends on theJorat to the south east over lookingLake Geneva .The district encompasses 16.0 km² area that includes a part of the Molasse peaks in the Jorat. As of 1997 11% of the district is inhabited area, 30% is forest and 59% is agricultural land.
