(1992)"What Kind of Fool (Heard All That Before)" is a pop dance song written byMike Stock ,Pete Waterman andKylie Minogue for Minogue's first compilation album "Greatest Hits" (1992). This joyous, unadulterated pop-tune was produced by Stock and Waterman and received a generally positive reception fromcritic s. Released as the first single in the summer of 1992 (see1992 in music ), it became Minogue's nineteenth top-twenty hit in the UK and fifteenth in Australia. The song contains jittery synths anddrum machine beats . It was seen as a step back in time to her previous hits such as "I Should Be So Lucky " and "Better the Devil You Know ", but lacked the public interest and a hook. Known as one of Kylie's least favourites now but the remixes were a hit with fans and it was the first time that Kylie had released more than one official remix on a release. A notable remix of the popular Rhythm Of Love track Things Can Only Get Better was included to an ecstatic audience. The cover sleeve pictured Kylie all-wet and in Europe the pink cover came in a different shade to the UK release. The Aussie version of the CD was a picture disc, now sought after.
The video
The single's video recreated scenes made famous by
Brigitte Bardot in the 1956 film "And God Created Woman ". It shows Kylie in 50's clothing, and bathing attire telling a guy that she's "no fool" and pushing him away in the shadow of blinded windows and silhouetted frustration.Charts
