Shobu Kapoor(b.1969) is a
British Asian actress.She is most famous for playing the role of
Gita Kapoor , the long suffering wife of the market-trader Sanjay (Deepak Verma ), in the popularBBC soap opera , "EastEnders " (1993-1998). During her time on the show, Kapoor's character battled through her husband's infidelity with her sister Meena,IVF , and finally fell pregnant with another man's child in a storyline that saw her absent from the show for a 9 month stint. Actually Kapoor was written out of the soap for an extended period as she was herself on maternity leave.Kapoor left the show in 1998 and has since had roles in the 2002
film "Bend It Like Beckham "; "The Bill " (2004); the Asian comedy "Chicken Tikka Masala" (2005); "Casualty" (2005) and "Doctors" (2000; 2001; 2006; 2008).In 2006 Shobu appeared in the BBC drama "Banglatown Banquet", which told the story of a young
