Army of Me is an indie band formed in Washington, D.C.

History

Formed in May 2001, vocalist Vince Scheuerman and bassist John Hutchins grew up together in a religious community based in Gaithersburg, Maryland. As they grew frustrated with trying to live and operate in the mainstream culture, they turned to music as their outlet. At the age of 17 they started playing in various bands, and then recruited drummer Dennis Manuel. Later, the trio added guitarist Brad Tursi.

The band was originally known as "Cactus Patch". Under that name they released at least 3 self-released EPs on CD-Rs and one self-titled album. They changed their name to "Army of Me" not long after winning the WHFS Big Break contest which granted them an opening slot at the 2001 HFStival.

The band's single "Going Through Changes" has been featured in the video games and Burnout Paradise. It has also been featured on the PS2 game Burnout dominator.

Army of Me was currently on tour with the Almost, Emery, and Envy on the Coast.
