Faryar Shirzad

Faryar Shirzad (born 1966 in London)cite web|url=http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/90b7727c-7bfd-11da-ab8e-0000779e2340.html|title=Bush loyalist takes international economics to the political stage|publisher=Financial Times|accessdate=2007-09-27] is a former White House Deputy Assistant for International Economic Affairs to President George W. Bush and the Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs, serving in this role from 2004 to 2006. He is currently a managing director at Goldman Sachs serving as Global Head of the Office of Government Affairs.

In his role at the White House, he was President Bush’s representative to the G-8 ("G-8 Sherpa"Fact|date=February 2007). Previous positions held by Faryar include Assistant Secretary for Import Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce; International Trade Counsel, U.S. Senate Finance Committee; and Associate Attorney at the International Trade Group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

Born to Iranian parents in London, ] Faryar has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Maryland; a Master's degree in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University; and a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
