- Lambretta SX 200
The Lambretta SX200, or SpecialX200, was Lambretta's top of the line scooter, with 20,783 units produced from January 1966 - January 1969. Though not the rarest of the Series 3 Lambrettas, the SX200 continues to be one of the most popular and desirable due to its classic, yet unique styling.
Great Britain was the first market to demand 200cc's from a scooter, and their craving for power (along with select other markets, not includingItaly ) was first satisfied with the TV200. The SX200 superseded the TV200 as a more reliable 200cc scooter destined for the world market, but was released as scooter sales were starting to dwindle. The SX benefited from its ability to be tuned for more speed and power, thus proving it a favorite with the burgeoning scooter racing scene in the UK. Many dealer specials were produced with the SX200 as its base including the Arthur Francis "S-Type", Supertune "Rallye", and the Rafferty Newman "Wildcat".When imported into the UK the SX200 was only available in one colour option of white with an ox blood red seat. The Lambretta Concessionaires soon realized they could make the model more desirable to the growing youth market of the booming 60s by doing their own two-tone colour option by spraying the side panel flashes in a few set colours.
